How to Order
Welcome to Ogikubo Harukiya, a true legend in the ramen world since 1949 and the heart of Ogikubo ramen culture. As a beginner-friendly shop, ordering here is straightforward even if you don't speak Japanese. When you arrive, look for a queue outside; if it's busy, join the line. Wait patiently until a staff member directs you inside to your seat at the counter. Once you are seated, a staff member will come to take your order. This is a verbal ordering system, so there's no ticket machine. Look at the menu, which might have pictures or even some English. If not, don't worry! You can simply point to the ramen you'd like. The most common choice is their classic "Ramen" or "Chashu-men" (ramen with extra slices of savory pork). A polite gesture and pointing to your choice, perhaps with a simple "Kore kudasai" (This one, please), will be perfectly understood. Enjoy your meal in the bustling atmosphere, savoring an iconic bowl of ramen. After you've finished, proceed to the front counter to pay for your meal. They will indicate the price, and cash is typically preferred.
1. **Before Entering (If there's a queue)** If there's a queue outside the shop, please line up at the end. 2. **Meal Ticket Purchase / Ordering** Upon entering, please directly sit at an available counter seat and verbally tell the staff which ramen you would like to order. 3. **Seating & Receiving Your Order** Once your ordered ramen is ready, the staff will serve it to you.

Ingredients & Allergens
Ogikubo Harukiya's signature ramen features a rich shoyu-based broth, traditionally made with pork and chicken bones, often incorporating a subtle dashi from bonito flakes or kelp. Toppings include tender chashu pork, menma bamboo shoots, narutomaki fish cake, nori seaweed, and green onions. Potential allergens include pork (broth, chashu), shellfish (narutomaki, potential dashi), and gluten (noodles, soy sauce). Please note that vegetarian and halal options are generally not available at this traditional establishment, as the broth base almost always contains animal products.
