Chiechan Ramen
ちえちゃんラーメン
Overview
Located just a 1-minute walk from Kanda Station West Exit, this 24-hour establishment is considered the original of the 'Chan-kei' ramen style. As a member of the 'Chan no Ren Kumiai' (Chan Noren Guild), it offers traditional Tokyo shoyu ramen where the soy sauce flavor is prominent throughout. The soup is smooth and light, yet a thick layer of lard floats on the surface, and a rich, heavy depth of flavor unfolds as you continue to drink it. It comes with soft, flat noodles and generous servings of juicy, fatty chashu. Paired with the free rice, it makes for a highly satisfying meal. Orders are placed at the outdoor touch-panel ticket vending machine, which supports multiple languages and QR payments, making it easy for foreign visitors. This is a valuable spot in the Kanda area, accessible 24 hours a day.

〆のラーメンにもピッタリで最高です#らうねめし pic.twitter.com/8A59lNyLDb

How to Order
1. **Before Entering (If there's a queue)** If there's a queue in front of the shop, line up at the end. Wait your turn in line, and when the queue advances to the outdoor touch-panel meal ticket machine, begin your operation. Entering the shop without purchasing a meal ticket first is not allowed. 2. **Purchasing Meal Tickets** The touch-panel meal ticket machine supports multiple languages. Proceed in 3 steps on the screen: "Language Selection → Visit History (first-time visitors choose the left side) → Menu Selection." Payment can be made by inserting cash or via smartphone payment (PayPay, etc.) using the QR code in the bottom right. For your first visit, we recommend the Char Siu Ramen (¥1,200) or the standard Chuka Soba (classic Tokyo-style ramen) (¥900), both marked "If you're unsure, go with this!" 3. **Judging When to Enter** Once you have your meal ticket, peek inside the shop. If there are empty seats, enter the shop; if it's full, continue waiting outside. As staff generally do not explicitly announce "Party of X, please come in," it is safest to enter when someone exits the shop. If you enter when there are no empty seats, you may be told, "It's full right now, please wait outside." 4. **Taking a Seat and Handing Over Your Meal Ticket** Once you've taken an empty seat, hand your meal ticket to a staff member. Water is self-service; please get it yourself from the water dispenser inside the shop. Paper aprons, bag hooks under your seat, and hangers behind seats are available, but the shop is narrow, making it physically impossible to bring in suitcases. Please be sure to store them in a coin locker at Kanda Station or elsewhere before visiting. 5. **How to Order Free Rice** When your ramen is served, a staff member will ask, "Would you like some rice?" If you want it, "お願いします" or "Yes please" is fine. Staff members are busy, so if you try to order it proactively before your ramen is served, it might be forgotten. It is most reliable to **say "Rice, please" immediately after your ramen is served.** 6. **Changing the Flavor** On the counter, you'll find pepper, vinegar, ichimi (chili powder), raw garlic, and pickles for rice. The recommended order is: ① First, enjoy about half of it without adding anything → ② Add a dash of pepper for extra depth → ③ For the last 1/3, add a small amount of raw garlic. The garlic is peeled and raw, and quite spicy, so please start with about half a teaspoon.
