Gadoya Osaka
王道家直系 我道家 OSAKA本店
Overview
Osaka Namba is home to one of the few authentic chokkei (direct-line branch) iekei (Yokohama-style tonkotsu shoyu) ramen shops in the Kansai region, a direct offshoot of the renowned "Oudouya" from Chiba. The original Oudouya is widely known among iekei fans as "IEKEI TOKYO" in Tokyo, and this Osaka branch is its second expansion in Kansai, following the one in Nara. As a rare opportunity to experience authentic, Chiba-direct iekei ramen in Kansai, it garners strong support from both local iekei enthusiasts and ramen trekkers from Kanto. The most distinctive feature of its flavor is the unique system allowing you to choose from three types of shoyu dare (soy sauce seasoning): "Honkan" (original store flavor), "Koikuchi" (rich flavor), and "Umakuchi" (umami-rich flavor, using Kyoto soy sauce). For a first visit, "Honkan," which most faithfully reproduces the taste of the original Oudouya, is recommended. Regulars familiar with the shop's offerings often visit to try and master all three distinct flavors. The soup is a rich tonkotsu (pork bone) shoyu made from a pork bone and chicken bone base combined with shoyu tare, a characteristic chokkei bowl where the sweetness of the chiyu (chicken oil) and the sharp umami of the shoyu powerfully intertwine. The noodles are Oudouya's custom flat, medium-thick, wavy noodles, boasting an excellent chewy texture and superb ability to cling to the soup. On the tables, you'll find the same authentic condiments as the main store: mugen ninniku (marinated seasoned garlic), chopped ginger, coarsely ground chili, mayonnaise, ramen vinegar, and ground sesame. You can enjoy the classic iekei eating style of dipping nori (seaweed) in the soup and wrapping it around rice. A popular signature method involves piling mugen ninniku and mayonnaise onto rice, then wrapping it with soup-soaked nori, creating an irresistible combination with the rich, distinctive iekei soup that makes it impossible to stop eating white rice. The signature topping "Horumon Age" (fried offal), available for an additional +100 yen, is one of the highly recommended menu items by repeat customers and pairs exceptionally well with the ramen. In the spacious kitchen, all staff members coordinate using headsets, making the dynamic, live-like operation another highlight of the shop.
How to Order
1Before Entering the Shop
A true Iekei ramen shop, the only one directly affiliated with Odo-ya in Kansai, located on the B1 floor of River Place, a 1-minute walk from JR Namba Station. Open until 4 AM, queues often extend outside the staircase even on weekday nights and weekends. Waits can exceed 30 minutes, but during peak hours, you can purchase a "Fast Pass" (paid, approx. 500 yen per person when crowded) at the storefront to skip the line. A late-night surcharge is added after 11 PM.
2Purchasing Meal Tickets / Ordering
This shop uses a "post-purchase" style where you wait in line inside (or on the staircase) and buy your meal ticket from the touchscreen vending machine inside the shop once your turn is near. The touchscreen does not have photos but offers English guidance. You select the soup type (Honten / Koikuchi / Umakuchi), noodle hardness, flavor richness, and oil amount on the vending machine screen, so there's no need to tell your preferences to the staff after being seated. The default flavor is set to usume (light), but the Honten (main shop) seasoning is quite salty for Kansai, so if it's your first time, it's safer to try usume (light) or futsu (regular). Payment is cash only.
3Seating and Receiving Your Order
Only 20 counter seats. Follow the staff's guidance to your seat and hand over your meal ticket. All staff in the spacious kitchen communicate via headsets, so their voices are clear. It may take a little time for your order to be served, so it's best to visit with plenty of time.
4Other Notes
Enjoy changing the flavor with unlimited garlic, chopped ginger, coarsely ground chili pepper, ramen vinegar, mayonnaise, pepper, and ground sesame seeds available at your table. The classic Iekei style is to dip nori (seaweed) in the soup and wrap it around rice. The famous "Horumon Age" (fried offal), an additional topping for about +100 yen, is highly recommended by repeat customers.
