Ginza Kamosoba Kyudaime Keisuke Ginza
銀座鴨そば 九代目けいすけ 銀座店
Overview
Ginza 6-chome, behind GINZA SIX, amidst a fiercely competitive ramen district, stands a 「Keisuke」 group restaurant specializing in 「Kamo Soba」 (duck ramen). The 「Keisuke」 brand was founded by owner Keisuke Takeda in 2005 with 「Shodai Keisuke」 (Black Miso Ramen) in Hongo, Bunkyo-ku, and has evolved through generations by changing its concept. The Ginza store is its ninth iteration, themed around duck. The menu features two main styles. For those preferring a lighter taste, the 「Kamo Soba」 (1,200 yen) is a classic choice, combining a clear 'Chintan' broth, rich with duck bone 'dashi' and 'shoyu', with your choice of thick or thin noodles. The 「Kamo Paitan Soba」 (1,200 yen), on the other hand, offers a viscous, potage-like creamy 'Paitan' broth, a blend of duck and chicken bones layered with 'shoyu', creating a slightly wild flavor. It's a dish where you can savor the wild essence of duck; while tastes may vary, its addictive quality is undeniable for those who love it. The 「Kamo Paitan Soba Kiwami」 (1,900 yen), an all-inclusive version with wontons, promises high satisfaction. Toppings include roast duck, 'komatsuna' (Japanese mustard spinach), 'naruto', and an 'ajitama' (seasoned egg) made from rich 'Macca eggs.' A distinctive soba-shop-style presentation offers two types of green onions (green and white) served separately. The duck 'chashu' is juicy and lacks any gamey odor, while the 'ajitama' features a soft-boiled yolk dyed a caramel color by its elaborate seasoning. Side dishes like 「Kamo Wasabi Gohan」 (duck with wasabi rice) and 「Kamo Soboro Don」 (minced duck rice bowl) are popular; a regular's favorite way to enjoy them is to pour the remaining soup over the rice after finishing the noodles and alternate bites. The interior offers approximately 18 seats, including 10 counter seats and additional tables. The restaurant welcomes many international guests, features an extensive English menu, and has a multinational staff. On the tables, you'll find 'Yuzu Shichimi' (citrus chili spice blend) and black pepper; the refreshing zest of 'Yuzu Shichimi' provides an excellent accent to the rich Kamo Paitan.
How to Order
1Before Entering
3-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line / Toei Asakusa Line). Also within walking distance from Ginza Station, located in a ramen battleground behind GINZA SIX. Open continuously from 11:00 to 22:00, with no idle time for evening service. It can get crowded during lunch peak and dinner hours, but while neighboring Jangara and Mugito Olive have queues, this place is often relatively easy to get into.
2Purchasing Tickets & Ordering
There is a touch-panel ticket machine at the entrance, designed to be easy to understand with photos and English display. Choose from the signature 'Kamo Soba' (¥1,200 - light soy sauce), 'Kamo Paitan Soba' (¥1,200 - rich potage style), the all-topping 'Kamo Paitan Soba Kiwami' (¥1,900 - with wontons), 'Katsuo Kasane Kamo Tsukemen', 'Mazesoba', or 'Aburasoba'. Side dishes include 'Kamo Wasabi Gohan' and 'Kamo Soboro Don'. For Kamo Soba, you can choose between thick or thin noodles, which you tell the staff verbally when handing over your ticket (if unsure, thick noodles pair well with the soup). Payments accepted: cash, credit card, e-money, and QR code payments (PayPay / d払い).
3Seating & Receiving
Approximately 18 seats in total, including 10 counter seats and table seats. Staff will guide you to an available seat, and food is served in about 5-8 minutes. Many staff members are foreign and can assist smoothly in English.
4Other
Green onions and white onions are provided on a separate plate, allowing you to add them at your preferred timing. For the wild flavor of Kamo Paitan, adding green onions later can bring a refreshing taste and change its character. Yuzu Shichimi and black pepper are available on the table; Yuzu Shichimi pairs particularly well with the rich Kamo Paitan. Free Wi-Fi is available, and paper aprons are provided upon request.
