Hakata Ramen ShinShin Kitte Hakata
博多らーめん ShinShin KITTE博多店
Overview
"Hakata Ramen ShinShin KITTE Hakata branch" is a popular Hakata tonkotsu ramen shop located on B1F of KITTE Hakata, approximately a 2-minute walk from JR Hakata Station. Its main branch is in Tenjin, and it is one of Hakata's ramen establishments with a history dating back to its yatai (food stall) days. The KITTE Hakata branch is highly popular with both tourists and business travelers due to its direct access from the station. The signature 'Hakata Junjo Ramen' features a milky, frothy tonkotsu soup. While suppressing the unique richness and aroma often associated with tonkotsu, the aftertaste is surprisingly refreshing and easy to drink. It's often described as 'light tonkotsu' or 'milder tonkotsu', making it a flavor that is widely accepted by tourists, female customers, and those who are not keen on richer ramen styles. The noodles are extra-thin and straight, similar to somen, and their firm texture pairs well with the soup. Customers can verbally specify their preferred noodle firmness: barikata (very firm), kata (firm), futsu (regular), or yawa (soft). The menu centers around the Hakata Junjo Ramen for 870 yen, with other options like ramen with a seasoned egg (ajitama), takana ramen, and a special 10th-anniversary char siu ramen with 6 slices of char siu and a seasoned egg for 1,000 yen (limited to 20 servings per day). Side dishes include Hakata specialties such as Wakanai Miso Hanyaki Meshi (staff meal style half miso fried rice), mentaiko fried rice (for sharing), an 8-piece gyoza set, and sumotsu (vinegared offal). With its excellent location approximately a 2-minute walk from JR Hakata Station and the convenience of being open continuously until 23:00 (last order 22:30), it's a perfect spot for any occasion: after arriving by Shinkansen or plane, or for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even a 'shime ramen' (late-night ramen) during your stay in Hakata.

1Before entering
Located on B1F of KITTE Hakata, directly connected to JR Hakata Station. Open from 11:00 to 23:00 daily, no holidays, L.O. at 22:30. As one of ShinShin's two major station-area stores, along with the Deitos store on Hakata Men Kaido, there's a consistent 20-30 minute wait on weekends and holidays during lunch, and around 30 minutes on weekdays. It's often used by tourists who want to quickly enjoy Hakata Ramen at Hakata Station, or as an alternative when the main store (Tenjin) is too crowded.
2Ordering
There is no ticket machine; orders are taken verbally after staff guide you to your seat. Signature dishes include "Hakata Junjo Ramen" (870 yen), "Ramen with Boiled Egg," "All-Toppings Ramen," the "10th Anniversary Ramen" (1,000 yen, 6 slices of chashu + boiled egg) limited to 20 servings per day, and side dishes like "Mentaiko Fried Rice." When ordering, specify your noodle firmness from "barikata (very firm) / kata (firm) / futsu (regular) / yawa (soft)." Payments accepted include credit cards (VISA・Master, tap payment available), public transport e-money, all PayPay/d払い/au PAY QR payments, and cash.
3Seating and receiving
There are about 40 seats in total, combining counter seats and numerous table seats. During busy times when queues are managed, guests are arranged tightly in two lines, so the distance to the next customer is close. Serving time is generally fast, around 5 minutes, indicating an operation focused on high turnover.
4Other
Grated garlic, pickled ginger (beni shoga), and ground sesame are available on the table. It's customary to add these "flavor changers" after eating about half of your ramen. Adding pickled ginger (beni shoga) in the latter half of "Hakata Junjo Ramen"'s relatively light tonkotsu soup will tighten the flavor. Mentaiko Fried Rice is spicy and recommended for sharing as a palate cleanser for the ramen. The "10th Anniversary Ramen," limited to 20 servings per day, often sells out around lunchtime, so it's safer to visit early if you're aiming for it.
