Hakata Torisoba TORIDEN KITTE Hakata
博多鶏そば TORISOBA TORIDEN KITTE博多店
Overview
A chicken soba specialty restaurant located on B1F of KITTE Hakata, a 2-minute walk from JR Hakata Station, operated by 'Hakata Tantanmen Torita,' a ramen business launched by Hakata's long-established mizutaki specialty restaurant. Its signature dish is a unique chicken soup that combines richness and refreshing lightness, utilizing the chicken broth techniques cultivated through mizutaki. The main Torisoba features a rich chicken base, a blend reminiscent of mizutaki soup and toripaitan (creamy chicken broth) soup. Upon tasting, the umami and collagen of the chicken spread through the mouth, yet the aftertaste is light and refreshing, allowing you to drink it all down. The noodles are custom-made and egg-free, characterized by their translucent, smooth texture. Two types of chicken chashu are served: moist and tender steamed breast meat, and fragrant seared chicken, each offering distinct textures and aromas. The second-line Tantanmen is also popular, with spiciness selectable from 1 to 10 levels (5 is the standard). Even at level 10, the umami remains robust, with the numbing spiciness of sansho pepper blending harmoniously with the richness of the chicken soup. Furthermore, the menu offers a variety of dishes to complete a tourist's Hakata experience, including Shoyu Torisoba (soy sauce chicken soba), Mala Chicken, Chicken Truffle Don, and Mentaiko Rice Set. Located on B1F of KITTE Hakata, it operates until midnight (24:00), making it a convenient late-night spot for those using Hakata Station. It has established its presence in the Hakata Station area as an option for tourists seeking lighter or chicken-based alternatives amidst the tonkotsu-dominated Hakata Ramen Street, or as a refreshing late-night meal after drinking for those who wish to avoid heavy options.
How to Order
1Before entering
Located on B1F of KITTE Hakata, a 2-minute walk from JR Hakata Station. Open 11:00-23:00 (L.O. 22:00), with irregular holidays based on KITTE Hakata's closing days. Weekends are crowded; weekdays are relatively easier to enter. KITTE Hakata B1F is open until 24:00 at the latest, making it convenient for late-night dining in the Hakata Station area.
2Purchasing meal tickets and ordering
There is a touch-panel ticket machine at the entrance of the restaurant. It has menu photos and English descriptions, making it simple to operate. Signature dishes include Chicken Soba 980 yen (normal comes without toppings), Shoyu Chicken Soba, Chicken Chashu Tantanmen 1,450 yen, Chicken Soba + Truffle Rice Set 1,460 yen, Mentaiko Rice Set, etc. For Tantanmen, you select the spice level from 1-10 on the ticket machine (basic is level 5, and even level 10 retains umami). Payment is widely accepted including cash, credit cards, electronic money (including transportation IC cards), and PayPay.
3Seating and receiving
Staff will guide you to seats, mainly at the counter. There are a total of 28 seats, including some table seating. After handing over your meal ticket, your dish will be served in about 5-10 minutes. The atmosphere is casual, like a food court, making it easy for even women dining alone to enter.
4Other
Yuzu kosho (citrus pepper paste, sometimes served in a separate small dish) and other condiments are available on the table. For Chicken Soba, adding yuzu kosho halfway through is a classic "aji-hen" (flavor change), instantly refreshing the rich soup. For the Truffle Rice Set or Mentaiko Rice Set, pouring the remaining soup over the rice at the end to enjoy it like a chicken "ochazuke" (rice with soup) is also popular with tourists.
