Hakatakko

Overview
Hakatakko Takaragaike is a Hakata tonkotsu ramen shop located in Kyoto, right in front of the Ichibonmatsu bus stop on Shimogamo Hon-dori Avenue. Despite being in Kyoto, it's known for its authentic taste, using thin noodles directly shipped from Hakata, and has been loved by locals for a long time. The signature "Toro-uma Ramen" (Melty Delicious Ramen) is the richest ramen offered, featuring a thick, creamy tonkotsu soup that coats the thin noodles perfectly. Though rich, the aftertaste isn't too heavy, allowing you to slurp it down effortlessly, a characteristic of Hakata ramen. You can choose between regular noodles or thin noodles directly shipped from Hakata; if you choose thin noodles, you can also specify your preferred doneness (e.g., kata (firm), futsu (regular), yawa (soft)). While tonkotsu is the most popular, the "Yasai Ramen" (Vegetable Ramen) with chicken broth soy sauce, cabbage, and bean sprouts is a hidden gem, notable for its customizable spiciness. The side dish of fried rice is fragrant and fluffy, often praised as a main dish in itself rather than just an accompaniment to ramen. You can also enjoy changing the flavor by adding takana (spicy pickled mustard greens), benishoga (red pickled ginger), and sesame seeds available on the table. After finishing your noodles, you can order kaedama (extra noodles) to fully enjoy the Hakata flavor until the very end.

1Before entering the shop
Located on Shimogamo Hon-dori Avenue, right in front of the Ichibonmatsu city bus stop. It's north of Shimogamo Shrine, making it a convenient stop before or after visiting the shrine. There are a few parking spaces in front of the shop, but the road is narrow, so if you're unsure about driving, a nearby coin parking lot is a safer option. With a total of 28 seats, including counter and table seating, it's easy for families to use.
2Ordering
There is no ticket machine; orders are taken orally after you are seated and have looked at the menu. When ordering ramen, choose between "regular noodles" or "thin noodles directly shipped from Hakata"; if you choose thin noodles, you can also specify your preferred doneness (e.g., kata (firm), futsu (regular), yawa (soft)). For Yasai Ramen, you can choose the level of spiciness. Sets with fried rice and kaedama (extra noodles) are also ordered orally. Payment is accepted via cash and QR code, but credit cards and electronic money are not accepted.
3Seating and receiving your order
Staff will guide you to your seat. In addition to counter seats, there are also table seats, making it easy for groups and families. Your order will be served in just a few minutes.
4Other
Takana (spicy pickled mustard greens), benishoga (red pickled ginger), sesame seeds, etc., are available on the table for you to add and customize the flavor to your liking. Takana goes well both in the soup and on the fried rice. If you finish your noodles and still have room, ordering kaedama (extra noodles) is a classic way to enjoy Hakata ramen to the fullest.
