1Before entering

This is a specialty shop for "Kamatama Chuka Soba" located in the arcade shopping street in front of Keikyu Kamata Station, a 2-3 minute walk from the station. It's an original genre of soupless noodles where freshly boiled noodles are mixed with a raw egg and chuka soba kaeshi (sauce). The main store is in Toritsudaigaku, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, and Keikyu Kamata is its second branch. Business hours are Mon-Sun 11:00-15:00 / 17:00-23:00 (with a midday break), open daily. Even when the shop is full (e.g., 80% full at 12:30 on weekdays, 1 seat available at 17:30 on weekdays, 70% full at 20:55 on weekdays with no queue), turnover is fast, and you can often get in within 3 minutes even if there's a queue. There are times around 9 PM when a queue of about 5 people forms, but they are seated quickly. If you register as a LINE friend before entering, you can get a topping coupon (e.g., 1 extra abura-age or raw egg, usable every time) that can be used from the day of registration, which is recommended.

2Purchasing meal tickets and ordering

Buy meal tickets from the vending machine at the entrance of the shop. The vending machine accepts cash and IC cards like Suica, but QR codes (e.g., PayPay) and credit cards are not accepted. Featured menu items include Rich Kamatama Regular (790 yen) (includes extra chashu + menma, regular size; becoming "rich" costs +200 yen), Kamatama Small (490 yen), Kamatama Regular (690 yen), Rich Kamatama Large (890 yen), 替え玉 (kaedama (extra noodle)), and Musubi (rice ball) (120 yen). "Rich" is a variation where chashu and menma are added to the regular Kamatama. The regular size offers a sufficient volume. If there is a queue, the operation is fluid, so it is safer to observe the end of the line to decide whether to join the queue or buy a meal ticket first.

3Seating and receiving your order

There are only 9 counter seats. Sit at an empty seat and hand over your meal ticket. Service is speedy, generally taking 5-6 minutes until your order is served. Since egg is the main ingredient, break the egg in the center, mix well from the bottom until the noodles, sauce, and egg are evenly coated, then eat.

4Other information

Over 15 varieties of free toppings are available on the counter: Kikurage (all you can take), chopped garlic, chopped ginger, fried onions, Baka Nira (super spicy chives), sesame seeds, ground sesame seeds, katsuobushi powder, shiitake vinegar, yuzu shichimi, Emperor Ra-yu, spicy chives, ra-yu (chili oil), etc. If you ask, powdered cheese is also available as a "hidden menu" item, allowing you to enjoy it "carbonara style." The original seasoning is simple and not heavy, so adding toppings gradually in sequence allows for enjoyable eating without getting tired of the taste until the end. Since there is no soup, asking for soup-wari (niboshi (dried sardine) dashi broth) to mix with the remaining sauce for a taste change is also popular. 替え玉 (kaedama (extra noodle)) is a unique variation: thin, straight, firm, low-hydration noodles soaked in niboshi soup are served, offering a completely different "genre" of flavor from the main thick, wavy noodles. It's a two-stage enjoyment. The main noodles are thick, wavy noodles with a smooth, firm, chewy texture, eaten by mixing the raw egg, sauce, and chopped green onions from the center.
