1Before Entry

It's about a 7-minute walk from JR Oji Station North Exit or Tokyo Metro Namboku Line Oji Station Exit 3. There is an uphill slope from the station to the shop, which can feel like a bit of a walk, especially in summer. As a popular Hyakumeiten (Top 100 Ramen Shop), long lines are common on holiday afternoons. Inside, there are a few waiting seats in addition to the counter seats; if crowded, please follow the staff's instructions to wait your turn. The shop does not have an awning outside, so it's advisable to prepare for rain or strong sunlight if waiting outside. The shop operates in two shifts: lunch (11:00 AM – 3:00 PM) and dinner (5:30 PM – 8:30 PM).

2Purchasing Meal Tickets & Ordering

Purchase meal tickets from the vending machine located at the front of the shop. It has photos of the dishes and a button layout map, making it easy to choose, but there are no English descriptions. Payment is cash only; cards, e-money, and QR code payments are not accepted (high-denomination bills are accepted). During busy times, you may be asked to wait to purchase your ticket until the previous customer has been seated. You can choose from the signature shirodashi ramen, sansho ramen, tonkotsu-gyokai tsukemen, or tantan mazesoba.

3Seating & Receiving

There are only 10 counter seats, and staff will guide you to your seat. When you hand over your meal ticket, you'll be asked verbally to choose the noodle quantity for ramen (130g or 180g; large serving is free) or for tsukemen (200g or 300g, and whether you'd like it kamaage (served warm without cold-rinsing)). Water and paper aprons are self-service by the wall. There are hooks under the counter for small bags. Expect to wait approximately 5 to 10 minutes for your order.

4Other Notes

Condiments available at the table include vinegar, pepper, and a spicy seasoning. For the shirodashi ramen, first savor the delicate broth as it is. Later, adding the shop's recommended "Over Drive" (a spicy blend of 5 seasonings) will tighten the flavor significantly and change its character. For tsukemen, soup-wari (broth to dilute the dipping sauce) is self-service from a pot provided with your order. The side dish, mayo chashu rice, is popular for its contrastingly "junky" flavor compared to the ramen's elegance. After eating, it is customary to place your empty bowls on the upper counter.
