1Before entering

A popular rich niboshi (dried sardine) ramen shop located 5-7 minutes walk from JR Kamata Station East Exit. It's a second brand of the popular "Menya Nemuru" in Hongo Sanchome, Bunkyo-ku, known for its signature "Baka Nibo," which extracts the ultimate umami of niboshi. Closed on Tuesdays; open 11:00-22:00 on other days. During peak hours, queues are common, such as 3 people and a 10-minute wait at 12 PM on weekdays, a 30-minute queue outside after 8 PM on weekdays, one seat vacant right at opening on weekdays, 2 people ahead and a 5-minute entry at 2:30 PM on Sundays, and immediate entry without a queue at 2 PM on weekdays. However, right after opening (11:00) and after 2 PM on weekdays are relatively easier times to get in.

2Buying meal tickets and ordering

There is a ticket vending machine at the shop entrance. Purchase your meal ticket before taking a seat. Operations when there's an outdoor queue vary by shop, so it's safer to observe the end of the queue and decide whether to join the queue first or buy a ticket (staff may guide you as the queue progresses). The vending machine accepts cash only; electronic money, QR codes, and credit cards are not accepted (ask staff if you need change). Main items include the signature Rich Niboshi with Egg (commonly known as Baka Nibo) for 1070 yen, Shrimp Niboshi with Egg for 1070 yen, Light Shoyu Chuka Soba, Light Shio Niboshi with Egg for 1070 yen, and the limited-time Rich Oyster Niboshi Chuka Soba (limited to 20 servings, available on some days). For extra noodles (kaedama), the "Aedama" (shrimp flavored, mixed with chopped onions + diced char siu + shoyu sauce + olive oil, enjoyed first like abura soba then dipped in soup like tsukemen) is popular among regulars. Add char siu for +350 yen, add flavored egg topping, or side Asari Meshi (clam rice) for 420 yen. Hand your meal ticket to the staff and take a seat.

3Seating and receiving your order

The shop has a compact layout with 5 counter seats and 3 tables, with counter seats in the front and table seats in the back. Staff will guide you to your seat, and your order will generally be served within 5-15 minutes. The interior is clean with a calm atmosphere, a white-based space where you can concentrate on your ramen.

4Other information

On the table, you'll find the signature "Sansho Olive Oil," vinegar, pepper, and vinegar with sansho pepper. The Sansho Olive Oil, in particular, is a signature flavor-changing item. Adding the refreshing aroma and slight tingling of sansho pepper to the rich niboshi instantly sharpens the taste; it's synonymous with this shop. The soup is a thick, cement-like type, delivering a punchy flavor with a strong hit of niboshi umami and slight bitterness, layered with an animal-based richness. The noodles are medium-thin, straight, low-hydration noodles from Kanno Seimenjo, offering excellent bite and pairing perfectly with the rich soup. The char siu is moist, tender, low-temperature cooked rare char siu, with the crisp texture of chopped onions as an accent. The Shrimp Niboshi is a rich niboshi ramen generously flavored with shrimp, and the limited Oyster Niboshi is a popular bowl where the umami of oyster and niboshi come in a double wave. Light (tanrei) options are also available, providing choices for those who prefer not to have rich ramen.
