1Before entering

A popular Jiro-inspired ramen shop located in the Sennichimae area, a 5-minute walk from Nankai Namba Station and a 6-minute walk from Nihonbashi Subway Station. It is near Namba Grand Kagetsu, on the east side of the Doguyasuji shopping street, along the "Nakahashisujisen" street. Opening hours are Mon 11:00-15:00 / 18:00-22:00, and Tue-Sun/Holidays 11:00-22:00 for continuous service (check the official X account for announcements of mid-day breaks or closures). During peak hours, there may be a wait of about 5-10 people outside, and since the operation involves seating and serving several groups at once, it can take about 15 minutes until your order is served.

2Purchasing meal tickets / Ordering

This shop uses a pre-purchase system where you buy meal tickets from a touch-panel vending machine inside the store. The touch panel has photos and supports English, Chinese, and Korean, offering excellent foreigner-friendly service. Signature dishes include "Makanai Shoyu" (Worker's Soy Sauce Ramen) (Small 200g ¥950, Regular 300g, Large), and the seasonal "Makanai Kara Lucy" (Spicy Ramen). While it is a Jiro-style shop, the only call for customization is "Ninniku" (garlic) – "Ari" (yes) or "Nashi" (no). Other options like "Yasai" (vegetables), "Abura" (fat), and "Karame" (extra seasoning) are selected on the vending machine beforehand. Toppings such as "Aotogarashi" (green chili pepper) (¥120), "Shoyu-zuke Abura" (soy-marinated fat) (¥80-100), and "Seabura" (pork back fat) (¥150) can also be purchased from the vending machine, and "Half" portions are available. A "Ladies' size" (150g) is also offered, providing plenty of options if you are not confident about the portion size. Payments are widely accepted via cash, credit cards (VISA, Master, JCB, AMEX, Diners), e-money (transportation IC cards, Rakuten Edy, nanaco, WAON, iD), and QR payment (PayPay, au PAY, Alipay, WeChat Pay).

3Seating and Receiving

The shop has 18 counter seats only. The staff will guide you to a seat, where you hand over your meal ticket. Since the operation involves preparing multiple orders at once, it may take about 15 minutes from entering the shop until your order is served. When serving your ramen, the staff will ask "Ninniku wa?" (Garlic?). Answer either "Ari" (yes) or "Nashi" (no).

4Other notes

The signature "Makanai Shoyu" offers a perfectly balanced trinity of sharp soy sauce tare, deeply flavorful soup, and mellow, pleasant fat. The "Aotogarashi" (green chili pepper) topping adds a piquant spiciness, giving the soup a multi-layered depth, while "Shoyu-zuke Abura" (soy-marinated fat) adds savoriness and richness, a recommended item unique to this main store. A "Ponzu base" soup is also available, recommended for travelers seeking a sour Jiro-style ramen.
