Opened in July 2017, this is a renowned chicken paitan (toripaitan) tsukemen (dipping noodles) shop in Saiin, Kyoto. The owner, trained at the famous Kyoto ramen shop "Ginjo Ramen Kubota," leads the rich tsukemen scene in Kyoto as a highly skilled establishment, selected for Tabelog Ramen WEST Hyakumeiten (Top 100 Shops) 2025. The signature dish is tsukemen (regular 200g 1,100 yen / large 1,200 yen). The soup is an ultra-rich chicken paitan base, simmered with only chicken and water until it reaches a viscosity so thick a spoon can stand in it. While reminiscent of Tenkaippin's dorodoro (thick and gooey) soup, its balance is superb, allowing you to slurp it down smoothly without any unpleasant heaviness, delivering a direct burst of chicken umami. The noodles are homemade, free of additives other than kansui, made with domestic wheat and whole wheat flour, resulting in a firm, medium-thick texture. Designed to perfectly hold the rich soup, you can enjoy the wheat aroma and elasticity of the noodles on their own. Standard toppings include rare chicken breast chashu, menma, and a seasoned soft-boiled egg, also available as a half assortment (350 yen). For a flavor change, add an aromatic kick with the original mayu (roasted garlic oil) available at the table. To finish, "oi-meshi" (last bite rice) is a regular choice for repeat customers: adding it to the remaining sauce allows it to soak up all the umami essence. Seasonal limited-time menus are also a big draw, frequently appearing. 1Before Entering the Shop
15-minute walk from Hankyu Saiin Station, 15-18 minute walk from JR Nishioji Station/Tambaguchi Station, or 20-minute Kyoto City Bus ride from Kyoto Station to "Nishioji Hanayacho" stop, then a 1-minute walk. The location makes it easy to find parking behind Aeon Gojo, right in front. Open from 11:00-15:00 / 18:00-21:30 (last order at stated times), open every day (temporary closures announced on X). During peak times (weekends at lunch), there may be a line outside, but it's relatively easy to get in around 12 PM, 1 PM on weekdays, or 6 PM in the evening.
2Purchasing Meal Tickets & Ordering
Purchase meal tickets from the vending machine at the shop entrance. It has photos and is simple to operate, but there are no English descriptions. The signature dishes are tsukemen (regular) 1,100 yen, tsukemen omori (large size) 1,200 yen. Other options include curry tsukemen, tantan mazesoba (tantan mixed noodles), Mao Zedong, and seasonal limited menus (e.g., cold tantan tsukemen, Kyoto Wheat hirauchi curry paitan mazesoba). Toppings include a half assortment 350 yen, seasoned soft-boiled egg, chicken breast chashu, and menma. Sides include chicken chashu don (rice bowl), oi-meshi (last bite rice), and white rice. Staff will guide you to buy tickets before lining up. Payment is cash only; cards, e-money, and QR payments are not accepted.
3Seating & Receiving Your Order
Staff will guide you to one of the 10 counter seats. During busy times, it takes about 5 minutes from handing over your ticket until being seated, and then another 5-7 minutes until your ramen is served. The shop is mainly run by female staff, who are swift and courteous in their service and flow management.

Instructions on how to eat are posted on the table: for tsukemen, the correct way is to "take a bite-sized portion and dip only 2/3 of the noodle into the soup." This ensures there's soup left until the end, allowing you to enjoy a complete meal by adding soup stock (katsuo and konbu dashi, available in a pot next to the table) to finish. For a flavor change, add the original "mayu" (roasted garlic oil) from the table for extra aroma. In the case of tantan mazesoba (tantan mixed noodles), enhance the spiciness with the whole sansho pepper and chili pepper on the table. Adding "oi-meshi" (last bite rice) to the remaining sauce at the end allows you to absorb all the umami essence.
