Menya Santa
麺屋 さん田
Overview
This is a renowned chicken Paitan tsukemen restaurant in Saiin, Kyoto, recognized by Tabelog as one of its Top 100 Restaurants. The velvety thick and rich soup, reminiscent of Tenkaippin, encapsulates the concentrated umami of chicken without any unpleasant heaviness. Its remarkable viscosity ensures that the soup beautifully coats the noodles when lifted. The homemade medium-thick noodles, containing whole wheat flour, offer a satisfying chewiness (koshi) and perfectly intertwine with the rich soup. Beyond their signature tsukemen, Curry Tsukemen and Tantan Mazesoba are also popular. You can enjoy the remaining sauce to the very last drop with 'Oi-meshi' (a small serving of rice) as a delightful finish.

1. **Before Entering (If there's a queue)** If there is a queue, please first purchase your meal tickets from the ticket machine before joining the line. Please refrain from lining up without purchasing a meal ticket. 2. **Purchasing Tickets / Ordering** Before being seated, please purchase meal tickets for your desired items from the ticket machine. The ticket machine accepts cash only, and while there are no English descriptions, you can check the menu using the photos. 3. **Seating & Receiving Your Order** Once you are guided to your seat, please hand your meal ticket(s) to the staff and wait. 4. **Other Information** After finishing your tsukemen, you can request "soup wari" (soup dilution) for the leftover dipping sauce with bonito and kelp dashi.
