Nadai Ramentei Hakata Station Chikagai
名代ラーメン亭 博多駅地下街店
Overview
This long-established Hakata Tonkotsu ramen shop, founded in 1967 (Showa 42), is located in the Hakata Station underground mall in Fukuoka. It's a famous establishment at Hakata Station, having appeared in "Cooking Papa" by Hakata-born manga artist Tochi Ueyama and the novel "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas." Their signature ramen, starting from 600 yen, features thin straight noodles and a traditional rich Hakata Tonkotsu soup. You can customize the noodle firmness, and "kaedama" (extra noodles) are available for 150 yen. The tables are equipped with condiments like spicy takana (mustard greens), red pickled ginger, the shop's unique sour garlic paste, white sesame seeds, and original tare (sauce), allowing you to customize your flavor to your liking. Value for money is also a draw, with a Morning Chashu-men available for 580 yen from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The menu is extensive, including Champon, Sara Udon, and mini fried rice sets, catering to meals from breakfast to dinner for those using Hakata Station. While photo menus on the wall make it easy for first-time visitors to choose, English menus are not available.

How to Order
1. Before Entering (If there's a queue) Near "West Exit 6" in the Hakata Station Underground Shopping Center. Around 12 PM on weekdays, there can be a queue of over 15 people, but the turnover is fast. During peak hours, you will generally be guided to shared tables, so even if it looks full, join the queue and wait to be seated. 2. Purchasing Meal Tickets / Ordering There is no ticket machine. After you are seated, a female staff member will bring you cold water. Look at the photo menu on the wall (Japanese only, no English menu) and order verbally. Verbally inform them of your noodle firmness preference and any extra servings of noodles (kaedama, 150 yen). 3. Seating and Receiving Your Order Follow the staff's guidance to an L-shaped counter or a 4-person table (the interior is retro with all round stools). Your order will be served within a few minutes after ordering. 4. Other You can customize your ramen with karashi takana (spicy mustard greens), red ginger, the shop's unique sour garlic paste, white sesame, and original sauce, all available on the table. From 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, a Morning Chashu Ramen is available for 580 yen. Payment is made at your seat, and cash, transportation IC cards, and QR payments (PayPay, Rakuten Pay, au PAY) are accepted. Cards are not accepted.
