1Before entering

This shop is located inside the ticket gate of Kintetsu Osaka-Namba Station (within the station premises). It's a renowned restaurant that has received the Michelin Bib Gourmand for three consecutive years and was selected as one of the top 100 ramen shops in Osaka. During peak hours, there may be a wait of 10-15 people. Closed on the third Tuesday of the month.

Please note: Since the shop is inside the ticket gate, visitors from outside the gate must purchase a 'Service Ticket with Admission Ticket' (180 yen) from the station ticket machine to pass through the gate. When purchasing a meal ticket at the shop, if you hand this service ticket to the staff, the amount of the admission ticket will be deducted from your meal cost.

2Purchasing meal tickets/Ordering

Purchase meal tickets from the touch-panel ticket machine near the entrance. The ticket machine has photos. The signature dish is 'Ogon Kai Ramen' (Golden Clam Ramen), and Chicken Shoyu, Oi-Katsuo (Extra Bonito), and Tsukemen are also available. The system separates ticket issuance and payment: after selecting your menu on the issuing machine, you read the QR code on the ticket at the adjacent payment machine to complete the payment.

3Seating and receiving

There are only 12 counter seats. Follow the staff's guidance to your seat and hand over your meal ticket. Chopsticks and water are set at each seat. Seasonings are generally not provided on the table, indicating confidence in the dish's completeness.

4Other

This bowl features a golden clam broth, two types of chashu (rare roast and seared pork belly), extra-thick menma, yuzu, fried onions, and mitsuba. Dissolving the yuzu adds a refreshing citrus note, effective for changing the flavor in the latter half of the meal. If you order the 'Oi-Katsuo Ramen,' a prominent feature is the staff serving a generous pile of freshly shaved Kagoshima bonito flakes right in front of you.

Miso Mendokoro Tasakaya (Ikebukuro): Navigating the Japanese-Only Ticket Machine and a Review of its Robust Miso Ramen

Miso Mendokoro Tasakaya, a miso ramen specialist located in Nishi-Ikebukuro, is just about a 5-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station's West Exit. This shop is known for its hearty miso ramen: a thick, rich, slightly sweet miso broth, firm thick noodles, melt-in-your-mouth chashu, and a towering pile of crisp bean sprouts (moyashi) – a truly robust and voluminous bowl. The menu features four main series: Miso Ramen, Kara-Miso Ramen (spicy miso), Aemen (a brothless mixed noodle dish), and IWGP Geki-Kara Ramen (extra hot). This guide, based on our visit on Friday, May 22, 2026 (arrived at 6:39 PM with a 13-person queue), provides photos and tips for first-time visitors to Japan. We'll cover how to navigate the Japanese-only, no-photo ticket vending machine using a color guide, understand the queuing situation (only 9 counter seats and long noodle cooking times mean slower turnover), tips to avoid crowds, and the cash-only payment policy.
