Overview
Naniwa Menjiro Zen - Soy Sauce, Salt. This ramen shop is a 'Ramen Hyakumeiten' (Top 100 Ramen Shop) located in the B2F food zone of Hanshin Umeda Main Store. It's an acclaimed restaurant that has also been featured in the Michelin Guide's Bib Gourmand. Their signature dishes are two types of ramen: 'Jidori Shoyu Ramen' (from ¥1,150), which combines Hinaidori chicken and clam broth, and 'Ogonkai Ramen' (from ¥1,150), featuring a clear shellfish broth paired with medium-thin straight noodles. Both ramen dishes are meticulously garnished with two types of low-temperature cooked chashu, a soft-boiled seasoned egg (ajitama), diced menma, mitsuba, and more, earning praise for their beautiful presentation. The menu also includes Aburi Chashu Don (seared pork rice bowl), gyoza, and shellfish broth tsukemen. The shop operates with an order-and-pay-at-the-entrance-counter system before being seated. It's user-friendly for international tourists, offering menus with English and photos, and supporting cashless payments. There are a total of 16 seats, comprising 7 counter seats and 4 tables (for 2 people each).
How to Order

1Before entering
This is a street-level shop located in a corner of the "Hanshin Bar Yokocho" gourmet zone on B2F of Hanshin Umeda Main Store, a 1-minute walk from Osaka-Umeda Station. Open continuously from 11:00 to 22:00, with irregular closing days following the Hanshin Department Store's schedule. On weekday afternoons around 12:00 and on weekends, there's an outdoor wait of 5-20 people, resulting in a 20-35 minute wait, but turnover is quick. The relatively easiest time to enter is weekdays between 15:00-17:00, which is the mid-afternoon lull.
2Ordering and payment
Instead of a ticket machine, you order verbally with staff at the entrance counter and pay upfront. The menu is displayed on a signboard next to the counter, featuring two main dishes that ensure Michelin Bib Gourmand quality: "Golden Shellfish Ramen" (1,150-1,500 yen) and "Local Chicken Shoyu Ramen" (1,150-1,500 yen). Side dishes like Aburi Chashu Don (seared pork rice bowl) (400 yen) and Gyoza are also ordered at the counter simultaneously. Once the order and payment are complete, staff will guide you to your seat. Payment is fully cashless, accepting cash, credit cards (VISA/Master/JCB/AMEX/Diners), e-money (Suica-type/Rakuten Edy/iD/QUICPay), and QR code payments (PayPay/d払い/Rakuten Pay/au PAY).
3Seating and receiving
There are 7 counter seats and 4 two-person tables, totaling 15 seats. After staff guide you to your seat, the waiting time is short since you've already ordered, with service in about 10 minutes. If you have a lot of luggage, staff will provide an extra basket. Staff are also able to assist in English.
4Other
Golden Shellfish Ramen combines fried onions, mitsuba, and lemon slices. It's common to change the flavor mid-meal by squeezing yuzu, or adding chili oil or garlic chips available on the table. For Local Chicken Shoyu Ramen, to fully appreciate the umami of Hinai Jidori chicken, it's recommended to savor the soup without adding anything until the end. If you order Aburi Chashu Don, alternating bites with ramen allows you to enjoy the contrast of flavors.
