Nikoniko Mazemen and Curry
ニコニコ まぜ麺&カレー
Overview
"Nikoniko Mazemen & Curry" is a Halal-certified ramen and curry specialty shop located in Kanda Sudacho, just a short walk from Exit A2 of Iwamotocho Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line. Catering primarily to South Asian Muslim customers, all dishes served are Halal and pork-free, making it a valuable destination in Tokyo for authentic Halal ramen. The signature dish is the Spicy Shoyu Ramen (1390 yen), featuring a chicken and beef bone broth base with a unique spicy curry-flavored soup reminiscent of Middle Eastern harissa and Indonesian sambal. This spicy soup is a rarity in Tokyo, and with its considerable kick, it's perfect for spice lovers. The noodles are medium-thick and curly, designed to cling well to the soup. Toppings include tender meat slices, seasoned egg, and succulent chicken. Another popular dish, the Potage Curry Noodles (1250 yen), combines a creamy curry soup with thin noodles and comes with complimentary rice. For those who prefer curry alone, the Japanese-style curry is mildly spiced for universal appeal, with options like Chicken Katsu Curry and Keema Curry available. The menu is bilingual (Japanese and English), making it easy for international visitors to navigate. The shop owner and staff are of South Asian descent, contributing to a slightly ethnic and inviting atmosphere inside. For Muslim visitors to Japan seeking Halal-certified meals in the Akihabara and Iwamotocho area, this restaurant is a highly valued option, drawing long lines daily.
How to Order

Immediately from Toei Shinjuku Line Iwamotocho Station A2 exit, a 5-minute walk from JR Akihabara Station and Tokyo Metro. Kanda Sudacho 2-15-1. Open from 11:30 to 15:00 / 17:30 to 22:00. This popular restaurant always has a line and is known as a halal-certified establishment with a customer base primarily of South Asian Muslims. High inbound demand, a valuable halal option.
2Ordering
Upon entering, staff will guide you to an empty seat. Orders are placed verbally with staff at the counter. An English menu is available, making it easy for international travelers; ease of operation is Level 1. Signature items include Spicy Shoyu Ramen (1390 yen), Spicy Miso, Potage Curry Noodles (1250 yen), Chicken and Beef Bone Ramen, Chicken Katsu Curry, Gyudon (beef bowl), Karaage-don (fried chicken bowl), etc. Spice level can be adjusted with 'add spicy' (+50 yen). All dishes served are halal food and do not contain pork. Payment is cash only; cards, e-money, and QR code payments are not accepted.
3Seating and Receiving
Only 10 counter seats. The area behind the window seats is impassable, so customers may need to move during seat changes even while dining. Food is served in about 10 minutes.
4Other Notes
The base is a chicken and beef bone broth, infused with a spice and curry-like flavor. The Spicy Shoyu Ramen has a flavor reminiscent of Middle Eastern harissa or Indonesian sambal, a spicy soup rarely found in Tokyo. The spiciness is not mild, so those who dislike spicy food should be careful. The curry is Japanese-style with a universally appealing spiciness, and complimentary rice is provided, allowing for an enjoyment method like risottos by using the curry sauce as soup. The menu is bilingual (English and Japanese), making it easy for international visitors.

pic.twitter.com/94wvHK839k
