Nipponbashi Sakaichi

Overview
"Nipponbashi Sakaichi" is a specialty ramen shop located in Shimanouchi, Osaka, just a 5-minute walk from Nipponbashi Station. It's one of Osaka's premier early morning establishments, opening at 7:00 AM on weekends and holidays to cater to the "asa-ra" (early morning ramen) demand. The shop garners strong support, particularly for its impressive summer-limited hiyashi soba (chilled ramen) topped with four varieties of chashu. The signature summer-limited "Niku Niku Hiyashi Soba" (Meat Meat Chilled Ramen), priced at 1,500 yen, features an astonishing presentation where four types of chashu—chicken breast, chicken thigh, pork loin, and pork belly—completely cover the bowl. The soup is a light, soy-sauce-based chilled broth, paired with flat, medium-thick straight noodles. The pork loin, slow-cooked at a low temperature for over 6 hours, and the juicy chicken thigh are especially praised, a preparation that loyal repeat customers absolutely adore. The regular menu offers several variations, primarily chicken and tonkotsu (pork bone) based ramen, including their celebrated "asa-ra" (available only during early morning hours). A unique operational aspect is that summer-limited menus announced on Instagram are not registered on the ticket vending machine; customers must order verbally and pay cash directly for these special items. This is a very compact shop with only 6 counter seats. Another distinctive feature is its unique operating style: lunch hours only on weekdays (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday) from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, and on weekends and holidays from 7:00 AM to 1:30 PM, with Thursdays as a regular holiday plus irregular closures. It is safest to check their social media for the latest operating information.
How to Order
1Before entering
5-minute walk (450m) from Exit 6 of Nipponbashi Station on the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line, Sennichimae Line, and Kintetsu Line; also within walking distance from Nagahoribashi Station and Shinsaibashi Station. Open Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri 9:30-14:00, Sat, Sun, public holidays 7:00-13:30 (includes morning ramen hours, continuous operation). Closed on Thursdays and irregular holidays. Latest operating information and temporary closures are announced on X and Instagram.
2Purchasing meal tickets / Ordering
There is a ticket vending machine inside the store with photos and English notation (difficulty level 1), and an English menu is also available. Signature Toripaitan Ramen and summer-limited Nikuniku Hiyashi Soba (1,500 yen) are available. Note that summer-limited menus announced on Instagram are not displayed on the ticket machine, so they require verbal order + cash payment for additional orders. Payment is cash only; QR payment, e-money, and cards are not accepted.
3Seating and receiving
A very compact store with only 6 counter seats. Staff will guide you to an empty seat, where you hand over your meal ticket. Due to limited seating, there may be a queue outside during peak hours. Serving time is approximately 5-10 minutes.
4Other
The signature Nikuniku Hiyashi Soba (summer limited, 1,500 yen) boasts an impressive visual with four types of thick-cut chashu (chicken breast and thigh, pork loin and belly) filling the bowl. The soup is a light soy-sauce-based cold soup that pairs perfectly with the flat, medium-thick straight noodles. The pork loin, cooked sous-vide for over 6 hours, and juicy chicken thigh are particularly popular.
