Overview
Located just a 3-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station, in Nishi-Ikebukuro 1-chome, this is a specialty ramen shop focusing on scallop broth made with Hokkaido-sourced scallops. Founded in April 2019, it was opened independently by the owner who previously launched "NOODLE SOUNDS," a popular establishment in Hongo-Sanchome. The stylish interior, featuring a wood theme and Western music, creates a clean and inviting atmosphere, making it comfortable for solo female diners and families alike. The signature Rich Scallop Soba (960 yen) features a thick, cloudy, and rich scallop broth ("paitan" style, referring to a thick, cloudy, and rich broth) made with abundant Hokkaido scallops, paired with homemade medium-thin flat straight noodles containing whole wheat flour. From the first bite, the aroma and umami of the scallops spread, with the refreshing scent of yuzu peel adding an accent. The Clear Scallop Soba (950 yen) is a pristine creation combining Hokkaido scallops with a broth derived from pork and chicken, seasoned with pink rock salt ("shio dare" - salt seasoning). While rich in scallop succinic acid umami, it retains a pleasant lightness thanks to the yuzu peel. Toppings include chashu (braised pork belly) seared with a burner just before serving, extra-thick seasoned bamboo shoots, red onion, daikon radish dice, daikon radish sprouts, and nori (seaweed). The chashu is tender with melting fat, and the extra-thick bamboo shoots are so perfectly prepared you'll want to order them as an additional topping. The Rich Scallop Tsukemen ("tsukemen" - dipping noodles) also prominently features scallop umami, with a satisfying combination of dipping broth and chewy thick noodles. A welcome service allows customers to choose their noodle portion size for free: Regular (200g), Medium (250g), or Large (300g). With thoughtful amenities like free aprons available on tables, this shop demonstrates excellent consideration for its customers.
