Ramen Jiro Ikebukuro Higashiguchi
ラーメン二郎 池袋東口店
Overview
Located a 5-minute walk from Ikebukuro East Exit, this is a directly affiliated branch of Ramen Jiro. Open only for lunch, it faithfully serves the classic Jiro style: extra-thick noodles, rich tonkotsu shoyu (pork bone soy sauce) soup, a mountain of bean sprouts, and thick-sliced chashu. After being seated, you'll be asked about your noodle quantity (normal, less, half) and hardness. A unique ordering system involves making a 'call' just before your ramen is served, to specify toppings (garlic, vegetables, pork fat, seasoned soy sauce). For 'Karame' (seasoning strength), you adjust it yourself with the sauce provided on the table. 'Mashimashi' (extra extra of toppings) is also possible. The two thick slices of chashu are very satisfying. As the noodle portion is generous, first-timers are recommended to choose 'less' or 'half'. Purchase your meal ticket from the vending machine inside the shop before waiting for a seat. Cash only.
