Ramen KURUMU
Ramen KURUMU
Overview
Ramen KURUMU," a specialty ramen shop located in Kita-Horie, Nishi-ku, Osaka, just a 3-minute walk from Yotsubashi Station, caters to "asa-ra" (morning ramen) demand. Designed by an owner trained at the famous "Yakumo" in Ebaranakanobu, Tokyo, it has garnered support as a key establishment for spreading wonton culture in Kansai. The signature "Niku-Ebi Shoyu Wontonmen Shiro" (Meat & Shrimp Soy Sauce Wonton Noodles, White) for 1,250 yen, features a delicate soup made from dashi (broth) carefully extracted from various ingredients, primarily fushikei (bonito flake-based), combined with subtly sweet shiro shoyu (white soy sauce). The superb interplay between the dashi and soy sauce creates a flavor profile that boasts the crispness characteristic of Kanto-style shiro shoyu, while also integrating with Kansai's dashi culture. The noodles are medium-thin and almost straight, offering a smooth, slurpable texture (suru-suru) and moderate elasticity, designed to blend perfectly with the soup. The wonton toppings come in two varieties: "Niku Wontan" (meat wonton) with a chewy texture (mochiri), and "Ebi Wontan" (shrimp wonton) with a plump texture (puri-puri), both highlighting the natural flavors of their ingredients. The chashu (braised pork) from the pork shoulder is tender and melt-in-your-mouth (horo-horo), with abundant meat flavor. Operating continuously from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, it caters to "asa-ra" (morning ramen) needs. Despite its cash-only policy and irregular holidays, its compact setup with only 11 counter seats is highly favored by connoisseurs (tsu-konomi).
How to Order
1Before entering
3-minute walk (124m) from Exit 4 of Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Station. Open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM (continuous operation including morning ramen hours), closes when soup runs out. Irregular holidays, check Instagram and Google Maps. Weekdays between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM are often relatively less crowded, while immediately after opening (around 8:00 AM) it gets busy with customers aiming for morning ramen.
2Purchasing tickets / Ordering
A ticket machine is installed inside the shop, but it has no photos and no English notation (difficulty level 3+). However, an English menu is available inside the shop, so it is smoother to check the English menu first before proceeding to the ticket machine. Signature items include Pork & Shrimp Shoyu Wonton Noodles Shiro (¥1,250), various wonton noodle variations, and Ajitama (seasoned egg) toppings. Payment is cash only; QR payment, e-money, and credit cards are not accepted.
3Seating and receiving
The shop has only 11 counter seats. After purchasing your ticket, sit at any available seat and hand your ticket to a staff member. Serving takes approximately 10 minutes.
