1Before entering
2 minutes walk from "Nishi-sen 9-jo Asahiyama Koen-dori" tram stop, approximately 20 minutes walk from "Nishi-18-chome" station on the Tozai subway line. Open only for 4 hours from 11:00 to 15:00 on Monday-Saturday and public holidays, closed on Sundays, so it's best to check the calendar before visiting. Even on weekdays, multiple people start lining up 15 minutes before opening, and the queue often extends outside the shop by opening time. On winter or bad weather days, the queue tends to be shorter, so if you want to minimize waiting time, aim for before opening in the morning or during bad weather.
2Purchasing meal tickets
The method is to purchase meal tickets at the ticket vending machine inside the entrance first, but the machine has no photos or English display, and the menu is only in Japanese text. Tourists and first-time visitors are advised to check the menu (Niboshi Shoyu, Karanibo, Tsukemen, Koinibo, etc.) beforehand. If the queue extends outside, first line up outside, and then purchase meal tickets at the vending machine after being called into the shop. The main dishes are Niboshi Shoyu (700 yen), Karanibo (750 yen), Tsukemen, and Koinibo (rich niboshi tsukemen), and you can add toppings such as sliced pork chashu (rose/bara), flavored egg, and medium rice. Payment is cash only; credit cards, e-money, and QR code payments are not accepted.
3Seating and receiving
When handing the meal ticket to the staff, verbally tell them your noodle type (thin straight noodles / thick hand-kneaded noodles / daily special thick noodles), amount of oil, richness of flavor, and noodle firmness. For first-time visitors, it's safe to ask for "普通" (futsu - regular) for each, and yuzu peel (free) can also be added if desired. There are only 10 L-shaped counter seats, and serving takes about 5-10 minutes.

Changing the flavor in the latter half of the meal with bonito flakes powder and mackerel garlic powder on the table is a classic. For tsukemen, if you ask for soup-wari (soup dilution) at the end, you can enjoy the lingering flavor of niboshi and seafood dashi until the last drop. If you use the coin parking in front of the shop, you may receive benefits such as free toppings or large-sized noodles as a parking service, so using nearby coin parking is common for car visits.
