Ordering difficulty
A sign at the shop entrance states "No entry for children under 12," so caution is advised for those with children; silent queuing style, and the interior is a stoic space with only radio and slurping sounds.
Recommended for first visit
The classic "Ajitama Ramen" (1,000 yen) is highly recommended; simple menu of 4 items (Ramen 900 / Ajitama Ramen 1000 / Rice 100 / Large size (Omori) +100) focusing on the excellent soup; soaking rice in the soup is also popular.
Notes
Open only for 3.5 hours from 11:00-14:30, closed Mondays; closes early once soup runs out, high risk of selling out after 13:00; cash payment only (cards, e-money, QR payment not accepted).

1Before entering

A street-level shop in a residential area, a 1-minute walk from the Toho Line "Tsukisamu-Chuo" Station exit, southwest from Tsukisamu-dori. There are 3 parking spaces in front of the shop and many coin parking lots nearby. Open for a short period of 3.5 hours only during lunch, from Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00-14:30. Closed on Mondays. Since they close early once the soup runs out, visiting after 13:00 carries a high risk of being sold out. As there have been instances of temporary or long-term closures, it's safer for first-time visitors to check any posted information at the shop entrance beforehand. A sign at the entrance states "No entry for children under 12," so caution is advised for those with children. It's a silent queuing style rather than a name-entry system, with waiting lines forming 30 minutes before opening.

2Purchasing meal tickets and ordering

There is no ticket machine; orders are placed verbally over the counter with staff and paid for afterwards. Sometimes orders are taken outside while waiting in line. The menu is simple, with only four types: "Ramen" (900 yen), "Ajitama Ramen" (1,000 yen), side "Rice" (100 yen), and "Large size" (Omori) (+100 yen). For first-time visitors, the classic "Ajitama Ramen" is recommended. Payment is cash only; cards, e-money, and QR code payments are not accepted.

3Seating and receiving

There are only 7 counter seats, and staff will guide you to an empty spot. It takes about 5-10 minutes from seating to service. The interior is a stoic space where only radio sound and slurping noises echo, so it's customary to keep private conversations to a minimum.

4Other

Tabletop condiments are minimal, designed to allow you to savor the perfection of the soup itself. The thick-cut chashu becomes even softer and more tender if submerged in the hot soup for a while; enjoying the soup and noodles first, then the chashu later, enhances satisfaction. Adding rice to soak up the leftover rich soup is also a regular's favorite. Since the soup is rich in both salt and fat, be careful not to consume too much salt if you drink it all.

Ramen Jiro "Kabuji" (Shinjuku-Kabukicho): The Complete Guide to Jiro Calls and Timing

Just a 1-minute walk from Seibu-Shinjuku Station North Exit, Ramen Jiro Shinjuku-Kabukicho, affectionately known as Kabuji (a nickname combining Kabukicho + Jiro), is the fourth oldest chokkei (direct-lineage) shop of the Ramen Jiro chain. Its late-night hours from 11:30 AM to 2:30 AM (Mon, Tue, Thu-Sun, closed Wed) are a unique advantage among chokkei shops, making it ideal for combining with Kabukicho sightseeing or as a late-night ramen after drinks. With its semi-emulsified pork-bone shoyu broth, homemade flat thick wavy noodles, unique call (shouted topping order ritual) culture (Ninniku (raw grated garlic), Yasai (boiled bean sprouts on top), Abura (solid back fat for richness), Karame (extra soy tare for stronger salty taste), Mashi (more, about 1.5×), Sukuname (less, about half)), the chokkei system of ticket-folding (a wordless system to request firmer or softer noodles by folding the meal ticket) to specify noodle hardness, lot system (a Jiro-specific eating rhythm where the same batch of customers finish together) manners, and specific rules (no phone calls, no photography except ramen, no drunken entry), this article provides a complete guide based on our visit on May 15, 2026, where we ordered a Small Ramen (¥950) with the call 'Ninniku Sukuname, Yasai, Abura'.
