Ramenya
らー麺や
Overview
A unique ramen shop in the Joshi Oji area of Sakae, Nagoya, operating from late night until early morning. The standard soy sauce ramen "Matsu" features a sweet and strong soy sauce soup with medium-thick noodles, and has long been a local favorite as a post-drinking ramen (shime-ramen). However, its greatest feature is the wide variety of its menu. It offers unusual dishes not typically found in traditional ramen shops, such as "Curry Ramen" with a thick curry soup and wavy noodles, "Katsu Curry Ramen" topped with crispy fried pork cutlet, "Mayonnaise Ramen" with a sour mayonnaise base, Taiwan Mazesoba, and "Kotobuki (Special)". In particular, the Katsu Curry Ramen, despite its visually indulgent combination of ramen, curry, and katsu in one bowl, is a highly addictive dish with a balanced blend of spices and soup. One of the ways to enjoy it is to customize the flavor with fried garlic and chili pepper available on the table. In addition to 11 counter seats, there are also ample table seats (one 5-seater, one 6-seater, and two 2-seaters), making it easy for groups to stop by. It operates until 7 AM the next day from Monday to Saturday, and until 5 AM the next day on Sundays and holidays, bustling with customers seeking shime-ramen after drinking. The presence of smoking-permitted seats is also a rare aspect in recent years.
How to Order
1Before Entering
8 minutes walk from Sakae Station, on the 1st floor of a building in the Joshi Oji entertainment district. Be careful when walking in the late-night hours as there are many touts in the area. Open continuously from 11:30 AM to 7:00 AM the next day from Monday to Saturday, and from 11:30 AM to 5:00 AM the next day on Sundays and holidays, primarily catering to the late-night shime-ramen demand. The closing days are not clearly set and are irregular, so it is recommended to confirm with the store before visiting.
2Ordering and Payment
There is no ticket machine; customers order verbally by looking at the menu at the counter or table after being seated, and pay at the counter after the meal (post-payment system). Signature dishes include Curry Ramen, Katsu Curry Ramen, Katsu Curry Rice, Mayonnaise Ramen, the standard soy sauce ramen "Matsu," and Kotobuki (Special). Side dishes such as fried rice, stir-fried vegetables, chicken wings (tebasaki), and fried chicken are also available, offering a pub-like menu configuration that goes beyond the typical ramen shop. Payments are cash only; cards, e-money, and QR code payments are not accepted.
3Seating and Receiving Your Order
In addition to 11 counter seats, there are 4 table seats, making a total of 26 seats, which is relatively spacious for the Sakae area. Water is self-service. The estimated waiting time for your order is about 5 to 10 minutes.
4Other Information
Fried garlic and chili pepper are available on the table, allowing you to customize the flavor to your preference. Breaking and mixing an egg yolk into Katsu Curry Ramen adds a mellow richness, making it easier to eat. As there are smoking-permitted seats in the store, those who dislike cigarette smoke may want to choose their visit time or seating carefully. Pay at the counter after your meal, and be aware that you might be approached by touts outside in the late-night hours.
