1Before entering

Located in an alley at Shinjuku 4-2-7, a 3-minute walk from Shinjuku Station's Southeast Exit. Open 24 hours a day, Monday to Sunday (hours may be shortened on some days, announced on X), making it a classic choice for late-night or early-morning ramen in Shinjuku. During weekend lunch peaks and holiday mornings, there might be an outdoor queue of around 7-8 people, so even with 24-hour operation, queues can form during peak times. The turnover is quick, allowing entry about 15 minutes after purchasing a meal ticket.

2Purchasing meal tickets

Purchase your meal ticket from the touch-panel ticket machine inside the store before proceeding to your seat. The ticket machine has no photos and no English, making it moderately difficult (difficulty level 3), but it supports various payment options including credit cards, e-money, and QR payments like PayPay. Signature dishes include Chuka Soba for 950 yen, Chashu-men for 1250 yen, Chashu-men + Negi Topping for 1350 yen, Karamim Chuka (spicy chili powder, spice level adjustable), Mori Chuka (tsukemen), and Half-size noodles. Rice is a complimentary service, and the combination of rice and ramen is a classic "Chan-kei" style. Some days offer additional toppings as a bonus for following their Instagram.

3Seating and receiving your order

The compact interior has only 15 U-shaped counter seats. If there are empty seats, you will be guided in sequence. Hand your meal ticket to the staff when you take your seat. Expect your order to be served in about 10 minutes. The staff is mainly foreign.

4Other

As a representative store of "Chan-kei Ramen" (a style originating in Koenji) gaining popularity around Shinjuku Station, it has brought a new ramen culture to Shinjuku, characterized by a clear pork shoyu broth poured to the brim, chewy flat noodles, and generous portions of chashu pork. The Chan-kei style includes several similarly named shops like "Chie-chan" and "Hiro-chan," and around Shinjuku Station, you can also find "Ecchan," "Kuma-chan," and "Nagichan." The soup has a good salt balance, with a moderate amount of oil, offering a mild flavor that isn't too heavy, making it easy to eat as a late-night meal or morning ramen. The noodles are thin, flat, and highly hydrated, giving them a chewy texture. The chashu is mainly lean, soft, and served warm right after slicing, providing high satisfaction even in the regular version with 6-7 slices. Table condiments include "Kappa" (pickled cucumber), minced garlic, vinegar, and spicy miso. A popular "Chan-kei" way to enjoy it is to put chashu and ingredients on rice, then pour soup over it, similar to ochazuke.
