1Before entering the restaurant

Located a 5-minute walk from JR Akihabara Station Showa-dori Exit, in Kanda Izumi-cho. This is the Kanto branch of Shinpukusaikan, a long-established restaurant from Higashi-Shiokoji, Kyoto (started as a food stall in 1938), with branches in Akihabara, Azabu Juban, and Hamamatsucho in the Kanto region. Open from 11:00-15:00 / 17:30-23:00, effectively open all year round except for the New Year holidays. It's busy with local office workers even during weekend lunches and on Sundays. It's easier to get in after 1:30 PM and after 5:00 PM; the peak hours subside around 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

2Purchasing a meal ticket

There's a ticket vending machine at the entrance. It only accepts 1,000 yen bills and coins (5,000 yen and 10,000 yen bills are not accepted), so please prepare small change. Purchase your meal ticket first, then hand it to a staff member. Signature items include Chuka Soba (small, regular, large), Yakimeshi (fried rice) (small, regular, large), Chuka Soba + Yakimeshi set for 1,300-1,400 yen, Chashu Men (roast pork ramen), Umami Nori (savory seaweed) for 100 yen, etc. The "Chuka Soba (small) + Yakimeshi (regular)" is a popular set. Payment methods include cash, QR code payment (PayPay), and e-money. Credit cards are not accepted. Tenpos shareholder benefits can also be used by speaking to the staff.

3Seating and receiving your order

The restaurant has 26 seats (mainly tables) with a casual seating arrangement. There are partitions between facing seats. The space is narrow, so shared seating is common, and you might need to ask the person next to you to make space for your belongings. Staff will take your meal ticket and guide you to your seat. Orders are served quickly, in about 5 minutes.

4Other information

The signature Chuka Soba features a pitch-black soup made with a chicken bone base, rich pork flavor, and aged dark soy sauce. Despite its striking appearance, the salt content is moderate, offering a clean finish, and the umami is drawn out by the richness of animal-based broth and the depth of soy sauce, creating a unique Kyoto ramen flavor. It's topped with plenty of Kujo green onions, bean sprouts, and thinly sliced pork belly chashu, which pair well with the chewy straight thin noodles characteristic of Kyoto ramen. Adding the grated garlic available on the table (easy to use with a sauce bottle) enhances the punchy flavor. The Yakimeshi is firm and fluffy, with a deep flavor infused with the aroma of burnt soy sauce. Regulars often enjoy wrapping noodles and green onions with chashu, or dipping yakimeshi into the leftover soup.
