Shisen Tantanmen Aun Asakusa
四川担担麺 阿吽 浅草
Overview
This is a branch of a renowned Sichuan Dandan Mian restaurant, whose main store is in Yushima, now open in Asakusa-Tawaramachi. You can choose between two bases, white sesame or black sesame, and opt for either a soup-based or soupless version. The most significant feature is the ability to customize the spiciness and numbing sensation from 0 to 6, offering 7 levels to suit your preference. The White Sesame Dandan Mian boasts a rich, mellow sesame flavor complemented by the heat of chili oil and the numbing tingle of Szechuan peppercorns, pairing perfectly with the medium-thin straight noodles. Toppings of minced pork, dried shrimp, and mizuna add both vibrant color and depth to its taste. The ticket vending machine is equipped with photos and English descriptions, and its excellent accessibility, just a 1-minute walk from Tawaramachi Station, is another appealing point.

Seating
How to Order
1. **Before Entering (If there's a queue)** Upon arrival, please join the queue and wait. Observe other customers to see whether you should purchase your meal ticket first or after entering. 2. **Purchasing Meal Tickets / Ordering** In either case, please purchase your meal ticket from the vending machine before being seated. The vending machine features photos and English descriptions, and accepts cash only. Choose between white sesame or black sesame, and whether you'd like it with soup or soupless. Then, select your desired spiciness (辛さ) and numbingness (痺れ) from 7 levels, ranging from 0 to 6 (Our recommendation is Spiciness 3, Numbingness 2). 3. **Seating & Receiving** Once you are guided to a counter seat, please hand your meal ticket to the staff. Please wait briefly until your ordered tantanmen is served. 4. **Other Notes** Once your ramen is served, feel free to add the vinegar or black vinegar available on the table to enjoy a change in flavor.
