Sushi to Ramen Uogashiya Tsuruyacho
鮨とラーメン うおがしや 鶴屋町店
Overview
Located in the ramen battleground of Tsuruyacho, a 5-minute walk from Yokohama Station, this unique restaurant (formerly 'Tsurikin') offers both sushi and ramen. The ramen served is a rich niboshi (dried sardine) broth, in the style of 'Sugoi Niboshi Ramen Nagi'. Their signature 'Sugoi! Niboshi Ramen' is a powerful bowl with the umami of niboshi front and center, available in soy sauce (shoyu) or salt (shio) base. The noodles are thick, mixed with wide, flat 'Ittan-men' noodles, offering both chewy and slippery textures. The 'Oigatsuo Chuka Soba', where you add katsuobushi (bonito flakes) at your preferred timing at the table, is also unique. The sushi is Edomae style with red vinegar (akazu) sushi rice, prepared by a chef at the counter, featuring daily changing toppings centered around tuna. Nikiri (soy sauce) is already brushed on, so you can eat it as is. The ramen and sushi sets (5 or 8 pieces) offer excellent cost performance and are perfect as a concluding meal.

1Before Entering
Located in the ramen battleground of Tsuruyacho, a 5-minute walk from Yokohama Station. Open continuously from 11:00 to 23:00 (last order 22:45), closed only for New Year's holidays. There may be a short line during lunch or on holidays, but the rotation is quick due to the counter seating, so the wait is usually short.
2Purchasing Meal Tickets / Ordering
Purchase meal tickets from the vending machine at the entrance. Choose a ramen (niboshi or katsuo) and a sushi set (e.g., 5 or 8 pieces). When handing over your ticket, specify if you want shoyu (soy sauce) or shio (salt). The process is to buy a ticket, then line up. Payment is accepted via cash and transportation IC cards (Suica, etc.); credit cards and QR code payments are not available. Paper aprons are available upon request.
3Seating / Receiving Your Order
There are only 14 counter seats. You can watch the chef prepare sushi right in front of you. Sushi is often served before the ramen.
4Other Information
The sushi is Edomae style with red vinegar (akazu) sushi rice, with nikiri brushed on, so it can be eaten as is. It is recommended to eat the sushi first, as the rich niboshi ramen might overpower the delicate flavors of the sushi. For 'Oigatsuo', you add bonito flakes yourself at the table to finish. You can also enjoy changing the flavor with niboshi vinegar and black shichimi (seven-spice blend) available on the table.
