1Before entering

This is a yatai (food stall) style tantanmen specialty shop located in Sennichimae, a 2-minute walk from Nihonbashi Station. It operates from 5 PM until 1 AM (Saturdays until 11:30 PM), with high demand for late-night meals after drinking. On weekends and late at night, queues can form, with 6-8 people waiting sometimes taking around 30 minutes. The shop has a street stall appearance, and the owner and staff are bright and lively. Paper aprons are provided, so it is recommended to wear one to prevent spicy soup from splashing on your clothes.

2Ordering

Orders are placed verbally at the counter. The main menu features two types of tantanmen: Sichuan Yatai Tantanmen (rich and creamy with a sesame base, medium spiciness) and Tabucchan-style Yatai Tantanmen (umami-spicy with a soy sauce base, strong spiciness). Many repeat customers order a half-and-half portion of both. Since the spiciness is strong, if you are not good with spicy food, adding egg or cheese toppings will mellow the flavor.

3Seating and receiving your order

The small shop centers around 13 counter seats. Service is fast, and your order will be served within minutes of ordering.

4Other notes

The noodles are thin and straight, with the crunchy texture of bean sprouts, chives, and minced meat as an accent. Adding a raw egg mid-meal can mellow the spiciness, making it a great way to change the flavor. It's a rich tantanmen with a numbing sansho pepper kick, and it's also recommended to add white rice separately to finish the meal. The friendly calls from the staff and the street stall atmosphere are themselves part of the shop's charm.
