Recommended for first visit
The famous "Chashu-men" featuring flower-petal-arranged chashu. Extra Kujo green onions (negi mashi) are also recommended.
Notes
Located deep in an alley, the entrance can be hard to find. Payment is cash only. Primarily counter seating, so it might be difficult for large groups.

1Before entering

It's about a 4-minute walk from Hankyu "Kyoto Kawaramachi Station," located in a narrow alley connecting Pontocho to Kiyamachi-dori. A red sign marks the spot, but the alley can be hard to find, so be careful not to miss it. It operates until late, attracting many customers looking for a late-night meal after drinks. On late weekend nights, there might be a short queue outside, but the turnover is relatively fast. The restaurant is primarily counter-seating with a table area for about 6 people in the back, so it might be difficult for large groups.

2Ordering

There is no ticket machine; orders are placed verbally after being seated, with payment made afterwards. The signature dish is Chashu-men, and you might be able to choose the cut of chashu (chāshū no bui o eraberu) when ordering. Additional requests, such as extra green onions (negi mashi), are also communicated verbally. Payment is cash only; cards, e-money, and QR code payments are not accepted, so be sure to have cash ready.

3Seating and Receiving

Upon arrival, take any available counter or table seat. Service is quick, with food often delivered within minutes even during busy times. The atmosphere is homely, and the close proximity to other customers and staff is part of its charm.

4Other

It's recommended to first enjoy the rich soy sauce soup as it is, then add ichimi (Japanese chili powder) or vinegar from the table to change the flavor. Adding extra green onions (negi mashi) further enhances the balance of soup, noodles, and chashu. Enjoying it with beer as a late-night drink is also a classic.
