1Before Entering

A long-established Kyoto ramen shop located immediately after exiting Momoyamagoryomae Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, under the elevated tracks across the road. Within walking distance from Fushimi-Momoyama Station and Chushojima Station on the Keihan Main Line, it's marked by a yellow signboard and a Showa-era nostalgic exterior in the drinking district of Fushimi's sake brewery area. Open almost continuously until around 11:30 PM; around noon on weekdays, the shop is full with a 10-minute wait for two groups outside, and lines continue from evening to late night until about an hour before closing. No dedicated parking, so if coming by car, use nearby coin-operated parking lots (some coin parking available for 100 yen after 8 PM).

2Ordering

No ticket machine, no meal tickets used. Staff will guide you to an empty seat, and you order verbally after being seated at the counter or a table. For the signature "Dainaka Ramen" and "Dainaka Katabara Rosu," detailed customization is possible by verbally specifying noodle doneness (futsu (regular) / kata (firm)), soup type (motomi (pork bone shoyu) / shinmi (seafood pork bone)), flavor richness (futsu (regular) / koime (rich)), bean sprout amount, green onion amount, presence of soft-boiled egg, and presence of kimchi. Regulars have adopted the stylish practice of ordering all items by simply saying "zenbu hidari de" (all left-side options). "Tokuno Ramen" (820-860 yen) features a separately prepared ultra-rich soup, with only green onion amount and noodle doneness modifiable. You can choose from 3 types of chashu (pork shoulder, pork belly, pork loin), with the "Katabara Rosu" (a three-cut assortment) being a popular combination. Payment is cash only, paid at the register when you leave (post-payment system).

3Seating and Receiving

The shop has a deep atmosphere under the elevated tracks, with counter seats and table seats in the back. Serving time is quick, around 3-5 minutes, indicating fast turnover. The shop is run by three owners (staff), known for their cheerful customer service.

4Other

The signature Dainaka Ramen features a rich soup made from two types of pork bones and three types of chicken bones simmered for 24 hours, resulting in a thick consistency that combines the umami of chicken and the richness of pork bone, characteristic of Kyoto ramen. "Tokuno" (extra rich) has a paste-like concentration, further reduced, which clings well to the noodles. The noodles are thin and straight, offering the classic smooth texture typical of tonkotsu ramen. In addition to the three types of chashu (kata (shoulder), bara (belly), rosu (loin)), bean sprouts, green onions, soft-boiled egg, and kimchi can be added for free (amounts can also be adjusted to ome (more)). Table condiments include pepper, ground sesame, garlic chips, grated garlic, and ramen sauce for flavor adjustment, making it a classic pleasure to change the flavor towards the end. Side dishes are substantial, including gyoza (380 yen), white rice (190 yen), karaage set meal, chashu-don, and yakimeshi (fried rice). The generosity of free toppings, providing soft-boiled egg, kimchi, bean sprouts, and ome (more) green onions for prices in the 760 yen range, is why it's widely supported by locals and tourists alike.
