Tokusei Ramen Daichu Honten
特製ラーメン 大中 本店
Overview
A long-established chicken-pork bone ramen shop in Fushimi, located under the elevated tracks of Keihan Main Line 'Fushimi-Momoyama' Station and Kintetsu 'Momoyama-Goryomae' Station, just a 1-minute walk away. Situated in a corner of a drinking district brimming with a Showa-era atmosphere, its exterior exudes a strong local vibe, making the entry barrier feel a bit high. However, it's a beloved local institution, cherished for a long time by all generations of locals. The signature dish, 'Dainaka Katabara Rosu' (Regular 790 yen), is a popular bowl allowing you to compare three types of char siu – shoulder, belly, and loin – all at once. The thin straight noodles pair perfectly with the rich, thick soup, simmered for hours from chicken bones and pork bones. The unique ordering style allows you to verbally specify everything without extra charge: noodle firmness, soup type (pork bone shoyu / pork bone seafood), flavor intensity, amount of bean sprouts, amount of green onions, and whether or not to include a soft-boiled egg and kimchi. There's also a shortcut ordering culture among regulars, like 'Zenbu Hidari' (meaning 'all left,' for firm noodles and extra toppings in one go). First-time visitors might feel a little confused, but the staff will kindly guide you, so there's no need to worry. Open daily from 11 AM to midnight, with no closing days, making it convenient for a late-night meal under the station's elevated tracks. Payment is cash only.
