Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen Fukki
豚骨醤油らーめん 福気
Overview
Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen Fukki is a precious Iekei-inspired tonkotsu shoyu ramen shop in the Hamamatsucho/Shibadaimon area, operating until 4 AM. It's located a 2-minute walk from Daimon Station (Toei Oedo Line) Exit A6, along the street towards Zojoji Temple. They offer three signature ramen: "Kurofuku Ramen" is the classic tonkotsu shoyu with all toppings, "Shirofuku Ramen" is salt-based, and "Akfuku Ramen" is a spicy bowl, presenting the three classic flavors. The soup is a milder tonkotsu shoyu than typical Iekei, with rich flavor but not too thick, and a well-balanced saltiness. It's described as "easy-to-eat Iekei" rather than a "punchy!" type, making it approachable for Iekei beginners and those who don't prefer overly rich flavors. The noodles are medium-thick, curly noodles that pick up the soup well. The generous toppings include thinly sliced chashu, tender pork kakuni, three sheets of nori seaweed, spinach, a soft-boiled ajitama egg, white sesame, and green onions. A distinctive feature is the inclusion of two types of meat (thinly sliced chashu + kakuni). When ordering, you will be asked about your desired noodle firmness. You can customize the taste with garlic (ninniku) and spicy miso (karamiso) available at the table. On weekdays, a small bowl of rice is free with lunch. In the late-night hours, it primarily caters to the "shime ramen" (finishing ramen after drinking) demand, attracting many foreign tourists and travelers with suitcases. It's a rare ramen shop in the area, open nearly 24 hours, and well-rooted in the local community.
How to Order
1Before entering the shop
It is a 2-minute walk from Daimon Station (Toei Oedo Line) Exit A6 and about a 5-minute walk from JR Hamamatsucho Station. The shop operates continuously from 11:00 AM to 4:00 AM the next day (last order 3:30 AM), seven days a week, year-round. It tends to get crowded during the lunch peak (12 PM - 1 PM) and late-night drinking hours (12 AM - 1 AM), but turnover is relatively fast, allowing entry within 5-10 minutes. On Saturdays and public holidays, many surrounding shops are closed, so the late-night hours are particularly bustling for "shime ramen" (finishing ramen after drinking) demand.
2Purchase meal ticket & order
Purchase your meal ticket at the touch panel vending machine immediately upon entry. The machine requires a long press to react, which often leads first-time foreign and Japanese visitors to mistakenly think it's broken, so press slowly. Buttons have photos but no English descriptions. Signature items include Kurofuku Ramen (1,100 yen), Shirofuku Ramen (930 yen), Akfuku Ramen (spicy), various mini Kakuni-don (braised pork rice bowls, 150-250 yen), and a small bowl of rice (free with weekday lunch). Payment methods include cash, credit cards (VISA/Master/JCB/AMEX), transportation e-money (Suica, etc.), and all QR code payments. After handing your meal ticket to the staff, you will be asked about your desired noodle firmness (e.g., kata (firm), futsu (regular), yawa (soft)).
3Seating & receiving your order
There are 16 seats in total: 8 counter seats and 2 tables (8 seats). The staff consists of the owner and foreign staff members who provide cheerful service in Japanese. Many tourists and travelers visit, so creative solutions for luggage storage may be needed. Orders are served within 5-10 minutes.
4Other
The table is equipped with various condiments for taste customization, such as garlic (ninniku), spicy miso (karamiso), white sesame, and green onion (negi) sauce. Adding garlic (ninniku) or spicy miso (karamiso) in the latter half of your meal can enhance the flavor. Since the soup is a slightly sweet tonkotsu shoyu type, if you find the saltiness lacking, it's recommended to adjust with spicy miso (karamiso) or other additional condiments on the table. In the late-night hours, many tourists with suitcases stop by, which can make the shop feel cramped, so please be mindful of where you place your luggage.
